It's prom season again and many girls have started stressing about finding the perfect dress. With all the brands coming out with their new season's trends, there will sure to be one that fits your style and flatters your figure. If you are interested in dressing with the trends for your prom this year keep reading to find out the 6 different styles to look out for when shopping.

Illusions
This trend is perfect for the girls who want to show a little skin but aren't 100% comfortable with the idea. They're the perfect stepping stone to dramatic cut outs. On the plus side an illusion style dress usually offers complex detail or jeweled mesh, all of which will save you $$$ on jewelry because they act as the show piece... and one less thing to worry about is always nice.

Two-Piece
Perfect for girls with long torsos and long legs. Girls with elongated feature will pull of this dress perfect. However a split in the dress can easily make even the perfect body look stumpy and boxy. That being said, this style also isn't a great option for heavier chested girls. As long as your top half fits into the top piece your set, but be weary because it offers little support and little room. When trying on dresses be thinking about what you're going to wear under it. Bring with you and wear the undergarments you plan on wearing underneath. If spanx or any figure enhancer is part of your plan then a two-piece is not the dress for you.
P.S. This style doesn't necessarily mean showing your whole stomach. Lots of two-piece dresses are cut so that the split between the top and bottom pieces are barely noticeable.

Cut Out
The cut out style has been one of the most popular trends for the past couple of years and it's still going strong. The completely open cut outs and the illusioned cut outs both share the same effect but the choice is dependent on your comfort level showing skin. Either way add appeal without going overboard.

High Slit
The high slit can teater on the line of scandal. This style is one of the more daring trends and must be worn by someone who's not afraid to show off a little skin. That being said I don't recommend this style for petite girls with shorter legs. A fully covered skirt for petite girls creates the illusion of longer legs while a slit ruins the illusion and makes your body look choppy.
Also if you choose this trend be sure to moisturize your legs well because they'll be the center of attention. If you want something extra dust some highlighter on the center on your shin for a J-lo glow.

Open Back
I like to refer to the open back dress as the mullet dress because all the fun's in the back. For the front you can choose any style you want but remember the back is going to be real show stopper. I don't suggest this trend for heavier chested girls as it may be good in the dressing room but you have to think of a backless bra or no bra at all. If that's something you can't do or aren't comfortable with I'd move on to another show stopping trend.

All over Sequin This trend is not for the light hearted. It's a daring a jaw dropping trend that will be sure to catch the attention of everyone in the room. That being said if that's not what you want don't pick this trend. Whoever wears an all over sequined dress will surely be the center of attention.

Ball Gown
Perfect for curvier girls because they cinch in at your waist and flow down creating the illusion of an ideal hourglass figure but on the same note are not ideal for petite girls because it can easily drown out their body and their shape. Don't be afraid to try out the ball gown style. It doesn't have to be the center of attention unless you want it to be. When looking you can easily opt for a more subtle shape or a neutral color. With ball gowns you have to wear the dress not let the dress wear you
Just remeber to HAVE FUN!
